For years, George Clooney was regarded as “Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor”, and many believed he would never settle down. However, gorgeous George was clearly holding out for the right woman, and met his match in the form of high-flying human rights lawyer, Amal Alamuddin.
These days, the couple are happily married and they have just welcomed twins named Ella and Alexander.
So, how did this love story start?
Well, according to George’s dad Nick, it all began when Amal arrived at a dinner party with mutual friends. George and his parents, Nick and Nina, were also in attendance - and Nick says sparks flew instantly.
He told People: “Nina and I were actually the ones who answered the door when Amal came in.
“She introduced herself to us, and we talked. She was obviously very charming, gorgeous and so clearly accomplished, but by the time we had supper that night, it was clear there was a kindness to her, and an inclusiveness.”
Nick and Nina weren’t the only ones charmed by Amal - George had also noticed her and was obviously very taken with her.
“By the end of supper, I started looking over at Nina and saying, ‘Look out, this could be trouble for this young man!'” Nick said.
“I really think by the time that first meeting was over, his and her fates were sealed, both of them. She was so remarkable, and he was so remarkable around her,” George’s dad added.
Having observed George’s many relationships over the years, Nick realised there was something special about this one.
“It was just different than all the other relationships I had seen him in, and I had watched them all from the time he was 13,” he explained. “This young woman meant something to him almost immediately. It was just amazing.”
After Amal gave birth to the twins, Nick was quick to congratulate her, saying she “already is a magnificent mother”.
Lavishing praise on the new mum, he said: “I’m constantly amazed by her. She is an incredible woman. George certainly married up!”
We have yet to see a photo of the twins, but according to doting grandad Nick, they are “beautiful babies”.
“I’m supposed to be a reporter, therefore observant, but I really don’t know how to describe one beautiful baby from another beautiful baby,” he explained.
Aww, looks like Ella and Alexander will be spoilt rotten by their grandad!
