September 1st is officially Back to Hogwarts day, but poor old J.K. Rowling made a bit of a blunder as she took to Twitter to mark the day.

Taking to the social media site this morning, J.K. Rowling wrote how anyone at King’s Cross should keep an eye out for Harry’s son, Albus Severus, who would be starting school today, finishing with the hashtag #19YearsLater.

"If you're at King's Cross, the Potter, Granger-Weasley and Malfoy families are there too. Albus Severus starts school today. #19YearsLater" the author wrote.

However, the last book in the Harry Potter series finished in 1998 and the epilogue to that book, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, starts 19 years later, when Harry’s son is starting school.

But 1998 plus 19 does NOT equal 2016, meaning Albus would not be starting school this year. In fact, Rowling was a year ahead of herself as he will be going to Hogwarts NEXT year: 2017.

The original tweet has since been deleted but Rowling took to the social media site to apologise for her blunder

Fans were quick to point out her mistake as usual, but it didn't put a dampener on what is a very special day for all Potter fans around the word!

At least the Hogwarts Express was on time!
