One young girl courageously shaved her hair to help a children’s wig charity. Usually, people are praised for doing such wonderful things for charity, however, Niamh Baldwin was put in isolation at school due to her new hairstyle.

Her mum took to Facebook to express her fury over the school’s decision. The mum praised her daughter Niamh saying, “I think how incredibly lucky I am to have the privilege to be her mum, she is the strongest bravest and the most amazing person I know!”

She gushed about her daughter, “I think this is the most courageous and amazing thing to do and makes me so proud.”

Unfortunately, the young girl’s school did not feel the same. Anneka revealed that her daughter had been put in isolation at school, which made her feel so low.

The mum explained that her daughter’s hair needs to be 1cm longer to be able to join in with classes. She added that her daughter was also not allowed to “see her peers in the playground.”

The schoolgirl has always had glowing reports from the staff at the school, her mom wrote, “Everyone she meets always say she is a polite and lovely girl! This doesn't change because of a hairstyle, to me it is discrimination.”

Her mum said she was fuming and that the school’s decision shouldn’t take away from her daughter’s incredible charity work.

In an interview with Mail Online, the principle of Niamh’s school explained that they had the right to punish her as she had broken school rules, regardless of her good deed.

The principle, Sarah Davey stated that every student is aware that they will be excluded from class until they grow their hair back to an acceptable length.

She added, “I will speak to Niamh's mother to try to resolve the situation to everyone's satisfaction so that Niamh can return to lessons as soon as possible.”

Do you think it’s fair to put Niamh in isolation? Or are the school in the wrong?
