If you happen to have a sweet tooth then you know all too well how difficult it can be to turn down a biscuit or slice of cake when it’s offered to you.

While it’s said a little bit of what you fancy is good for you, it’s important to note the effect too much sugar can have on your physical and emotional wellbeing.

While many of us might manage to cut out sugar for a day or two, most of us find ourselves slowly slipping back into our old habits.

But how do we know when enough is enough?

If you’ve found yourself suffering from any of the following symptoms, then chances are you’re consuming too much sugar and may need to reassess your nutrition plan.

Just take a look at these!

1. Troublesome skin

If you’ve noticed that you’re experiencing more breakouts than usual, then it’s worth taking note of your diet and identifying the source of this complaint.

Sugar can wreak havoc on our skin so if you’re aware that this has become more of an issue recently, it’s definitely worth turning down that extra biscuit.

2. Headaches

If you find yourself suffering from headaches throughout the day, it’s definitely worth considering the level of sugar in your diet.

Sugar causes dehydration because your body attempts to dilute the sugar intake with water by pulling it from other parts of your body which in turn leads to painful headaches.

3. Cravings

If you find that you’re craving sugar more than usual, that’s most likely because you’ve been overindulging of late!

If you want to curb your cravings or stamp them out completely, you can do this by cutting down on sugary food and drinks because the less you eat, the less you crave.

4. Tiredness

If you find that you’re experiencing a drop in energy levels, it’s very likely sugar is to blame.

To get back on an even keel, reduce your sugar intake, allow your body a few days to adjust and enjoy your newfound boost!

5. Weight

If you’re struggling to kiss goodbye to some pesky lbs despite eating a low-fat diet, it’s because you’re still consuming too much sugar.

To truly see results, you need to drastically limit your sugar intake while combining your nutrition plan with regular exercise.

Sugar is incredibly addictive and very difficult to avoid completely, but by making smart choices and schooling yourself on the negative effects it can have, you should be able to say goodbye to those unfortunate side effects.
