Your G.P. or ophthalmologist will be able to examine the eye and check for any signs of glaucoma. They will check the pressure within the eye and also if there is any damage to the optic nerve.  This damage will be clearly visible when the eye is dilated during an exam. The doctor will first use eye drops to dilate the pupils and will then examine the eye with an ophthalmoscope.
If your ophthalmologist detects glaucoma he will be able to prescribe treatment to slow or prevent vision loss.
