With so many parents boasting about how their little ones are already adept at working their phones and tablets, this latest research is particularly concerning.

According to a new report, the radiation emitted by wireless devices can be extremely harmful to children.

The new research, published in the Journal of Microscopy and Ultrastructure, claims that children absorb more radiation than adults, with the reason due to cell, tissue and organ size.

“Children are at greater risk than adults when exposed to any carcinogen,” explains the report.

“Children absorb more MWR (microwave radiation) than adults because their brain tissues are more absorbent, their skulls are thinner and their relative size is smaller,” it adds.

Another interesting and concerning aspect of the report is the warning to pregnant women.

Study authors urge pregnant women against using Wi-Fi and carrying mobile phones on their person, stating that wireless radiation can have a major impact on a developing brain.

Paediatric neurologist Dr. Maya Shetreat-Klein said: “We’re seeing alarming increases in the number of children diagnosed with neurological disorders over the past decade, and anything we can do that might help reduce that rate should be taken very seriously.”

In light of how key a role Wi-Fi plays in our daily life, this is one piece of research that every parent should be aware of.
