It has been claimed that the family of world-famous singer, George Michael, are terrified the performer will eventually lose his battle with drug and alcohol addiction amid further reports the former Wham singer is incapable of breaking the cycle which sees him checking in and out of rehab.

The much-loved singer, who has hit the headlines on numerous occasions over the past decade, is said to be struggling to overcome his addictions - a battle which his family fear he is doomed to lose.

Commenting on the Faith singer's issues. Jackie, the wife of his cousin, Andreas Georgiou, said: "He was smoking crack. Before he went away he was he got to the point where he would be shaking, saying, "I need it."

In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Jackie admitted her concerns and acknowledged that the singer may be beyond help, saying: "It's crack, it's marijuana, it's drink, it's coke. It was pretty dark and things were getting darker. He was going to end up locked up or dead. I'm petrified he will die."

George, who recently celebrated his 52nd birthday, was reported to have checked himself into an exclusive rehab facility in Switzerland, but a statement released by his spokesman suggest these claims had little grounding in reality.

Addressing press speculation, the singer's spokesman said: "Contrary to some of the reports in the press, George has not just entered rehab but is spending time in Europe. He is well and enjoying an extended break."

The singer has reportedly kept a low profile over the past six months with many insiders admitting they have spent little to no time with the star - claims which further fuel speculation that the star has been admitted to a facility trained to deal with the litany of issues he is reported to suffer from.

Highlighting her concern for his health, Jackie recalled an event which left her traumatised, saying: "There were parties where he was taking drugs and collapsing and being picked off the floor. Waking up in vomit, horrible things. He was so thin, so ill."

Let's hope George gets the treatment and support he needs in order to overcome his problems.
