Kickstarter have suspended a campaign to raise funds for a Tinder-style adoption app.

The Adoptly app set a target of $150,000 but had its campaign suspended by Kickstarter just after reaching a mere $4,000.

The app claims to make adoption easier for parents saying that traditional adoption routes can take up to two years to finalise.

Using a system similar to Tinder, the app would locate “adoptable kids” within a certain radius of where the prospective parents are.

“Swiping right if you’re interested, or left to keep looking. And if a kid, through their agency or foster care, likes you back it’s a match,” reads the description on their Kickstarter campaign.

With a chat service available, the app claims to “let you forget about all the bureaucratic stuff and focus on what really matters”.

While the developers say the app is safe and secure, requiring prospective parents to subject to government-mandated background checks, many are not impressed asking ‘is this a joke?’
