It's been confirmed. Mary Berry has QUIT The Great British Bake Off.

The talented lady has followed in the footsteps of Mel and Sue and left the popular baking show.

The show was bought by Channel 4 last week for an incredible sum of €87 MILLION and today the popular judge released a statement saying:

“My decision to stay with the BBC is out of loyalty to them, as they have nurtured me, and the show, that was a unique and brilliant format from day one.

“I am just sad for the audience who may not be ready for change, I hope they understand my decision."

“I wish the programme, crew and future bakers every possible success and I am so very sad not to be a part of it. Farewell to soggy bottoms.”

The BBC Arts correspondent David Sillito confirmed the news on Twitter a short while ago saying:

“Mary has decided to stay with the BBC... she quits out of ‘loyalty’ to BBC”

As it was announced already, hosts Mel and Sue have also decided to leave the show and if rumours are to be believed Jamie Oliver will take over hosting duties.

But fear not GBBO fans, there is some good news today as Paul Hollywood has confirmed he will be remaining on the hit show.

Ah, Mary. We'll miss you.
