Losing a child is possibly the most heart-breaking thing any parent can go through, and while that pain never goes away, we can find ways to seek comfort and cope with our grief as time passes on.

This is the reflection of soap star Kym Marsh, who has spoken candidly this week about how ‘lucky’ she is to be a mother to daughter Polly, particularly after the heartbreak of losing third child Archie almost seven years ago.

With Archie’s seventh anniversary approaching, on February 11, Kym shared her thoughts on the grieving process with OK! magazine.

“While I’ll never get over losing him, now I find comfort in thinking that Archie gave me Polly – if I hadn’t lost him, the doctors wouldn’t have monitored me as closely when I was pregnant with Polly, which means I could have lost her,” said the 39-year-old Coronation Street actress.

Baby Archie was born 18 weeks early in February 2009, and sadly passed away shortly after entering the world. Kym and then-partner Jamie Lomas welcomed daughter Polly in March 2011.

Kym – who is also mum to 20-year-old David and 18-year-old Emilie – added that she felt ‘lucky’ to have an ‘amazing kid’ like Polly.

Our hearts go out to Kym at this time – facing into the anniversary of a child’s death is never easy.
