She is no stranger to controversy, but you would think at this stage that mother-of-two Myleene Klass would know better than to broadcast certain admissions to the world.

The singer and presenter has sparked outrage this weekend, after revealing that she released a giant rat-eating crab from the Pacific island of Mogmog in Hampstead Heath!

The 37-year-old recently returned from a trip to Mogmog where she was filming a new show, Singing in the Rainforest.

Speaking on her radio show yesterday, the pianist said: “I don’t know if somebody packed this or what, but in my bag when I got home was a giant crab. They must be hardy these crabs, it made it all the way back.”

In an admission that has angered wildlife experts and local conservationists, she added: “I kept thinking, ‘I’ve got to let this crab go free because it is not very happy here in Highgate. So we let it free on Hampstead Heath – I’ve probably ruined the eco system.”

Condemning Myleene for the move, Rachel Jones of London Zoo told The Sun: “The best thing that can happen is they die a horrible death. The worst is that they will start killing native species.”

While Myleene’s reps have since insisted that she was joking, there have already been two alleged sightings of the giant (and rather scary-looking) crab – climbing a tree, and in a pond!

Oh Myleene, perhaps that wasn’t the best move you have ever made!
