Kensington Palace has this morning announced the details of Princess Charlotte’s forthcoming christening.

The baby, who was born on May 2, will be christened on Sunday, July 5, in a private ceremony in Sandringham.

According to a brief statement released by the Palace, the Princess will be christened by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

“Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are pleased to announce the christening of Princess Charlotte will take place on Sunday, 5th July at St Mary Magdalene Church, Sandringham,” the statement read.

It added: “Princess Charlotte will be christened by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby.”

While the christening will be the first public appearance by the family since the Princess’ birth, it is expected that a family photograph will be issued ahead of their special day.

With Prince George having been christened in the Chapel Royal at St James’ Palace in London two years ago, it is believed that the decision to christen Princess Charlotte in Sandringham is to be closer to their country home at Anmer Hall.

We are looking forward to the big event already.
