As the future King of England, it makes sense that Prince George’s second birthday celebrations would be a little out of the ordinary, and this latest report proves this perfectly.

With the little Prince set to turn two on July 22, the Royal Mint has unveiled its plans for marking the milestone in a very special way.

Just as with the birth of George and Charlotte, the Mint has designed a special commemorative coin. The £5 coin is sterling silver and bears an image of the legend of St George and the dragon on one side, and a portrait of the Queen (or nanny!) on the other.

The Royal Mint will release 7,500 of the limited edition coins, with the Mint’s director, Shane Bissett commenting: “The choice of the St George design to honour Prince George’s birthday is an apt one – the name George has long had links with the British monarchy and its coinage…”

The announcement comes after sources revealed what parents Kate and William have planned for their little boy’s big day.

An insider said this week: “They will be making a big fuss of George at his birthday party, which is expected to be at Anmer Hall.”

We can’t wait to find out more!
