She has spoken of her utter joy since the birth of her second child, but it seems that all did not go exactly according to plan for Una Foden after her son Tadhg’s arrival.
Opening up on her first days with her little boy, the Voice of Ireland star admitted that exhaustion and frustration caused her to have a bit of a “meltdown”.
In an interview with Hello! magazine, the 33-year-old revealed: “I hadn’t really slept in the hospital, so I was exhausted and the third day is when the baby blues tend to kick in. It was also the day my milk came in, but I couldn’t get Tadhg to latch on. I had a bit of a meltdown, sobbing, ‘It’s only been three days, I feel like such a failure.’”
Una said that after expressing three ounces of milk, she felt instant relief, adding that while she is an avid promoter of breastfeeding, it should come down to each mother’s personal choice.
“No woman should ever feel pressured or that she is a failure if she doesn’t breastfeed. But just for the purity of that bond you feel with your baby, I’d say to any new mum, ‘Just try it’,” she said.
We're delighted to see that Una is doing so well with her little one. He is beyond adorable!
