With the former Spice Girls star turning 40 today, her mum Andrea took to her social media channels to share some beautiful throwback photos and express her sadness over their estrangement.
Posting a photograph of a young Mel doing the splits for the camera, Andrea wrote: “40 today. Hope your birthday is as special as you are to me. Love and miss you.”
In another black-and-white shot, Andrea is seen applying lipstick to a tiny Mel, with the caption reading: “Today I have a 40 [year] old child, loved and missed so badly!! Official first makeup artist ME!!”
Mel’s sister Danielle, with whom she also had a public falling out, chipped in: “Happy 40th birthday to my one and only big sis Mel B.”
It is reported that the family feud started back in 2008, after Mel started a relationship with her current husband, Stephen Belafonte. With Belafonte previously admitting to attacking the mother of his child, as well as bludgeoning a duck to death with a brick, Andrea expressed her concern over their romance and the safety of Mel and her children.

The confrontation led to a falling-out between Mel and Andrea, as well as sister Danielle, with Andrea previously admitting: “Half of my family is missing to me. Every day I pine for Mel, Phoenix and Angel.”
