Concerns have been raised following the closure of a ward in St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London after a number of patients developed a stomach bug.
The news comes just as the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, is due to deliver her second child in the Lindo Wing of the famous London hospital.
Commenting on the unfortunate event, a spokeswoman for the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, said: “A ward at St Mary’s is temporarily not taking new admissions after we found a small number of vascular patients were carrying a micro-organism in their gut."
Despite the development, a spokesman for Buckingham Palace has asserted that 33-year-old Kate's plans have 'not changed' and Prince William's wife will be admitted to the hospital to welcome her second child when the time comes.
Elaborating on the severity of the cases, the spokeswoman for Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust assured those concerned that the situation was being dealt with, saying: "Unfortunately three of these patients developed localised infections. All have completely recovered."
The Duchess of Cambridge, who is said to be contemplating changes in her maternity leave, is due to give birth any day now, but an official announcement has yet to be made as to Kate's current condition.
