You don’t need to go to far flung locations to spot some whales, not when the coast of Ireland is a bit of whale playground! Whether you head up to the north, to the west or down south, you are sure to spot one of these fabulous mammals. 

 

So if you are planning on enjoying a staycation this year, why not head to one of these fabulous locations and see what you find:

 

1. Co. Cork

Just off the coast of West Cork you are sure to spot Minke, Fin and Humpback whales floating about. 

 

2. Co. Clare

If you fancy spotting a Fin or Minke whales then the coast of Co. Clare is ideal. Fin whales usually make an appearance from about October while you are likely to spot a Minke whale a little earlier in the year, around early August.

 

3. Co. Donegal

If it’s Orcas you are after, head to the top the of the country to Inishowen, Co.Donegal. Here there have been numerous sightings of the black and white whale that you are sure to spot one.

 

4. Co. Wexford

Whale watching season in sunny South East is from November to March. Here you will be treated to a performance from the famous Humpback whale and Fin whales.

 

Always remember that while these locations are prone to whale sightings, that doesn’t mean you are guaranteed to see one.
