What should I do if my toddler won't drink anything when he's sick?

When your child is sick with vomiting and diarrhoea, or if they have a bad sore throat, they will sometimes refuse liquids. It’s understandable. They may feel that they will get sick again if they drink anything, or it could just hurt to swallow even water.

It’s important to keep your toddler well hydrated especially when they are sick. But, when they refuse liquids, it can be worrisome.

What should you do when your toddler is sick and will not drink water or juice? Try to give them a frozen treat. And, if they do have a sore throat, a frozen treat will be soothing.

There are several brands of frozen treats that are made with electrolyte replacement solution and were created to keep sick children hydrated. Best of all, you will feel better knowing your sick toddler has taken in fluid and your toddler will be happy eating a yummy treat!
