Three days after her highly-anticipated arrival in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington, Princess Charlotte was introduced to her doting great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth today.

Kensington Palace was the setting for the emotional meeting this afternoon after Queen Elizabeth's great-granddaughter arrived amid a flurry of publicity on Saturday morning.

Princess Charlotte, who was overdue by approximately a week, had yet to meet her great-grandmother who had been attending a military event at Richmond Castle in North Yorkshire when her grandson, Prince William and his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, welcomed their second child.

Princess Charlotte, who honours both her great-grandmother Elizabeth and her late grandmother, Princess Diana, in her name also spent time with her maternal grandparents in the grounds of Kensington Palace in recent days.

After spending thirty minutes in the company of the beautiful princess, Queen Elizabeth made her way back to Buckingham Palace in the centre of London this afternoon.

Queen Elizabeth's husband, The Duke of Edinburgh, is due to meet the newborn later today.

Having introduced their newborn to her extended family in the UK and signed the birth register at Kensington Palace this afternoon, Kate and William intend to spend quality time in Norfolk with their son George and his beautiful baby sister, Charlotte from tomorrow.

Wishing the lovely family a very relaxing time together!
