After a couple of false alarms – and more than a few days past her due date - the Duchess of Cambridge finally went into labour, entering Lindo Wing at 6am today.

Now we’re happy to announce that Kate has given birth to her second child – a healthy baby girl!

The little cutie was 8lb 3oz and the name the Royal couple have chosen is yet to be announced.

The baby was born at 8.34am this morning.

Betting odds are favouring Alice for a girl.

We imagine Kate and Wills are dying to bring their newest bundle home and start life as bigger family with George. If the little prince is anything like his dad, he’s sure to be an excellent big brother. William was apparently a natural after Harry's arrival, with Prince Charles saying: "William has taken to the new baby like a duck to water.

"It's worth a guinea a minute watching him enjoy himself. He's been climbing in and out of Harry's cot."

With the arrival of the new Royal, Harry is now fifth in line to the throne; although we doubt he’s thinking about that right now as he celebrates becoming an uncle for the second time.

Like everyone, we’re obviously dying to get our first glimpse of the little Royal, but for now we wish William and Kate all the luck in the world and hope they really cherish this special time.

Congratulations!
