We know they can save our lives, but let's face it - smear tests are not fun.

Sure, they're free, quick and ridiculously easy to book, but lying there with a doctor poking at your lady bits is not our idea of a good time.

But we ladies are made of strong stuff and a smear test can easily detect a potentially deadly cancer that could take us away from out little ones.

Women should have a regular CervicalCheck smear test while aged between 25 and 60. Exams are recommended every three years until the age of 44 and then, following two normal results, every five years until the age of 60.

So, to put things in perspective, here are just a few things that are more awkward than a smear test.

1. Forgetting the name of the person who just greeted you with a hug in the street.

2. Bumping into an ex and his beautiful wife while covered in baby vomit and sweat.

3. Having your child ask loudly if a curvy lady on the bus has a baby in her belly.

4. Leaking breast milk during a work meeting.

5. Realising you have baby poo on your clothes during any encounter with a grown-up outside your house.

6. Saying “You too” when your server says “Enjoy your food”.

7. Mom Dancing.

8. Not being able to hear/understand what someone is saying even though you’ve already said “Pardon?” twice.

9. Running for a bus, missing the bus and automatically pretending you weren’t trying to catch the bus.

10. Accidentally liking someone’s Facebook photo from a few years ago when you’ve been cyber stalking them
