We’re all told just how important mindfulness and being in-touch with your inner self is in order to achieve great things in life. Being present in your own life and more aware of what is going on around you will help you appreciate your surroundings and the positive aspects of your life.

If you are unsure of how you can be more mindful, take note of the following five things.

1. Be curious

Look at life the same way a newborn baby or a young child would – curious and full of awe. Savour the miracles of life and appreciate the importance of the small things and the role they play in the wider circle.

2. Forgive

Holding on to bad feeling or resentment will not only leave you feeling drained, it will also affect your view of the world.

3. Accept things for what they are

Nothing stays the same forever, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing. Embrace what you have at the moment and appreciate it when it’s gone.

4. Trust others

People will let you down – that’s just the way of life – but by allowing yourself to be vulnerable at times when you want to put your guard up you will open your eyes to a whole new world.

5. Make friends with imperfection

You are wasting your time searching for perfection – it simply doesn’t exist. Instead, embrace all imperfections for what they are and love them for what they are.
