She has not held back amid the chaos and media circus surrounding her bitter custody battle with her ex-husband, and today this star has appeared on live television to address serious claims regarding her children.

Former Gossip Girl star Kelly Rutherford has reacted angrily to claims that she ‘kidnapped’ her children by not returning them to their father in Monaco, in conjunction with a court order.

Appearing on Good Morning America today, the 46-year-old said: “I think kidnapping is when no one knows where the children are. I was in communication. The kids were Skyping with him [Daniel Giersch] every day. I wrote him an email telling him exactly that nobody had jurisdiction in my country, and I was concerned until somebody gave me some order that said they were coming back.”

The mother-of-two added that she is still “trying to process” this week’s court hearing, during which Judge Ellen Gesmer ordered for eight-year-old Hermes and six-year-old Helena to return to Monaco with their grandmother.

“I just feel like their voices have not been heard. I walked into a courtroom where everything felt like it was already done. It was a done deal. His [Giersch’s] mother was sitting there with plane tickets, smiling, ready to take them. Nobody heard our argument,” she said.

This week marked the most dramatic turn in the former couple’s long-running custody battle, which has been playing out since 2009.
