She previously revealed that she has spent years trying for a baby, so when she announced her pregnancy back in February, we were absolutely delighted for her.

Now, an overjoyed Emily Symons has spoken of her happiness at the prospect of becoming a mother, and has even revealed the gender of her unborn child.

The 45-year-old actress, who is best known for her roles as Marilyn in Home and Away and Louise in Emmerdale, told New Idea magazine that she is expecting a baby boy.

In a candid interview with the Australian magazine, the star said: “I cry through all the scans, every time I hear that heartbeat, but they’re obviously tears of happiness. I just can’t believe it!”

Emily, who is expecting with her partner Paul Jackson, also opened up about the rocky road to pregnancy, which has brought its fair share of heartache for the actress.

The couple were left disappointed after many failed IVF attempts, and she revealed that the batch of eggs collected on her first IVF attempt weren’t fit to be used.

Commenting on the complications that she, like so many other mums, have faced, Emily said: “We had to kiss a lot of frogs before we got this one!”

Emily is now seven months pregnant. We are so delighted for her, and wish her all the best with the rest of her pregnancy.
