From her rise to fame in 2003 until her untimely death in the summer of 2011, members of the public followed the ups and downs in the life of world-famous popstar and highly acclaimed singer, Amy Winehouse, with an almost morbid curiosity.

From number one hits and Grammy Awards to drug addiction and eating disorders, both the media and the public became spectators as it appeared Amy spiralled ever further into a life of ill health and cancelled concerts.

Since her death from alcohol poisoning in 2011, curiosity hasn't waned and just months after the release of documentary film Amy, it has now emerged that the star was under the impression she was expecting a child at the time of her demise.

Hitting back at critics who purported his daughter was living the life of a recluse in the months leading up to her tragic passing, Mitch Winehouse insisted nothing could be further from the truth.

Mitch, who has been slammed for cashing in on Amy's addictions and death, spoke candidly on Australian daytime television in an effort to quash the rumours.

Opening up on Channel Seven's Weekend Sunrise show, Mitch said: "She was with Reg, they were going to get married."

Outraged his daughter's life may be misrepresented in the docu-film of her life, Mitch voiced his dismay, saying: "To give the impression that she was on her own is frankly criminal."

In a move which may upset fans of the star, Amy's father revealed a secret the singer was keeping quiet prior to her death at the age of 27 when he said: "I shouldn't tell you this but she thought she was pregnant at some stage."

It appears interest in the star's private life has only intensified since the release of Amy, and with her father speaking so candidly on national television, we don't imagine it'll wane any time soon.
