Whether she is taking up a role on the big screen or making a glamorous turn on the red carpet, Blake Lively captures hearts wherever she goes, which is why we were so excited when she unveiled her website, Preserve, last year.

The star’s site came in for criticism from the outset, with many users confused as to what exactly Blake was trying to go for with Preserve, but she stuck with it over the past year.

Now, however, the mother-of-one has surprised everyone with the announced that she is to close her website after failing to achieve her ‘original mission’.

Confirming the news to Vogue today, the former Gossip Girl star said: “We have an incredible team of people who do beautiful work, but we launched the site before it was ready, and it never caught up to its original mission.”

In a surprisingly candid admission, she added: “It’s not making a difference in people’s lives, whether superficially or in a meaningful way. And that’s the whole reason I started this company, not just to fluff myself, like, ‘I’m a celebrity! People will care what I have to say!’”

While she admitted that she expects to come off the news looking ‘like a jerk’, she revealed that she already has another idea up her sleeve to reinvent Preserve, to meet with her initial expectations.

Blake found herself at the centre of controversy on many occasions over the content and products featured on Preserve. As well as coming under fire for selling a self-designed ‘James’ baby bag for almost $1000, she was once accused of writing a racist trend report.
