An incredibly caring trainee hairdresser spent 13 hours unravelling the matted hair of a young girl.

The teen, who wishes to remain anonymous, had let her hair become unkempt and matted as she suffered from severe depression and was unable to even comb her hair.

She arrived at the salon where Kayley Olsson worked asking for her hair to be cut off as she thought there was no way to salvage the tangled mess.

However, her plight touched 20-year-old Kayley’s heart and she vowed to help the girl.

The diligent cosmetology student spent a total of 13 hours working on the girl’s hair over two days.

She transformed the teen’s hair from a knotted matted mess to a cute wavy bob.

Taking to Facebook, Kayley explained why she’d devoted so much time to this girl.

“She got to the point where she felt so down and so worthless she couldn't even brush her hair, she told me she only got up to use the restroom.

“She starts back at school in a few weeks but she has her school pictures today.

"When she walked in she told us ‘Just cut it all off I can't deal with the pain of combing it out’, she called herself worthless for it. It honestly broke my heart and we tried everything we could to keep this child's hair for her!

“After being here eight hours yesterday and five hours today we finally made this beautiful girl smile and feel like she IS worth something! Her last words to me were:‘I will actually smile for my school's pictures today, you made me feel like me again’ ”.

Kind-hearted Kayley went on to say: “Mental health affects people all around the world and of all ages!

"Parents take it seriously don't just push your kids off and tell them to get over something they legitimately can't.

"A CHILD should NEVER feel so worthless to not even want to brush their hair”.

Her post received incredible 167K reactions and over 60,000 shares.

We think she has done wonders in restoring this young woman’s self-confidence and should be very proud of herself.
