Facebook’s Motherhood Challenge, which has taken the social media site by storm this month, involves mums uploading a collection of photos representing their parenting journey and why they are happy to be parents.

They then tag their other ‘mum’ friends and ask them to continue on the thread.

However, comedian Ellie Taylor has taken her own spin on the challenge and has gone one step further by starting her own 'NON-motherhood challenge'.

Sharing a picture of her wearing a hoodie and curled up with a bottle of wine, the British comedian wrote: “Non-Motherhood Challenge: I was nominated by myself to post five pictures that make me happy to be a non-mother. Such special memories.”

While there is nothing wrong with the original challenge, it acts as an added pressure on women to be the ‘perfect’ mum or to start a family.

In fact, many people have expressed concern over the potentially negative impact the challenge could be having on others, including women struggling to conceive as well as those who have lost children.

Unsurprisingly, the response to Ellie’s post has been hugely positive, with a number of mums and women thanking her for posting it.
