Congratulations are in order today for American actress Zooey Deschanel, who has reportedly given birth to her second child.

According to People magazine, Zooey and her husband – TV producer Jacob Pechenik – welcomed a son named Charlie Wolf into the world last week, in Los Angeles.

The couple are, of course, already proud parents to daughter Elsie Otter, who was born in July 2015.

A representative for the couple confirmed the wonderful news to the magazine, saying: “Zooey, Jacob and their daughter, Elsie, are overjoyed to welcome the newest member of their family.”

What an exciting time for the family – especially big sister Elsie! What do you all think of the couple’s adorable choice of name? It looks like Zooey and Jacob are big animal lovers, that’s for sure!

No doubt Zooey is overjoyed with the arrival of her son. The actress, best known for her role as Jessica Day in New Girl, previously opened up about motherhood and the changes it has brought to her life – and, gosh, do we love her for it.

In a previous interview, with Redbook, the 37-year-old got real about the weird phenomenon around ‘bouncing back’ to your ‘pre-baby body’.

“To expect someone to look like her pre-baby self immediately is odd. Because you just grew a human and then birthed that human – there’s a lot that needs to go back to where it was. All your organs move around, for Christ’s sake!” she said.

And for anyone even tempted to make a sarcastic comment about her little one’s name, we’ll refer you to a previous quote about daughter Elsie Otter’s moniker.

“We thought Elsie is kind of a classic name. A lot of people have grandmas and aunts named Elsie. And then, we were like, the middle name can be a little bit…wild. I love animals so much, and we love otters because they’re so cute and playful and fun,” she told Ellen DeGeneres.

We’re delighted for Zooey and Jacob, and we’re wishing them lots of luck and bliss with their newborn son.
