At 13 months old, twin boys Jadon and Anias McDonald underwent a gruelling 16-and-a-half-hour long surgery in October, including separation and reconstruction, at the Montefiore Medical Centre in The Bronx, New York.

The delicate procedure was carried out by Dr James Goodrich, who told the boys’ parents, Nicole and Christian McDonald, that their case was ‘right there on top’ as the most difficult he has ever taken on.

Well, the surgery was a success and the pairs parents have shared the moment Jadon and Anias saw each other for the first time since the operation.

The amazing picture was shared on Facebook by a family friend.

As the two boys continue their recovery in hospital, mum Nicole documents their progress saying:

“It’s time to step forward into the new chapter of our life. I’m ready to fight and I know you are too.”

Describing her family as ‘standing on the brink of a vast unknown’, Nicole added: “The next few months will be critical in terms of recovery, and we will not know for sure how Anias and Jadon are recovering for many weeks.”

Well, the pair are now fully recovered and Nicole was only too happy to share that with the world.
