Plenty of us are guilty of constantly thinking negative thoughts; it’s way too easy to always find the downside in life than it is to find the good, and it’s a vicious trap that can be very tricky to get out of.


Thankfully, however, things don’t always have to be that way and you CAN re-wire you head to be more positive and, subsequently, feel a lot better within yourself.


If you do find yourself constantly saying no or thinking of the worst scenario, try making small changes now with the help of the following six tips.


1. Smile as often as you can

Even if you have to FORCE yourself to do it...It can relieve stress and instantly boost your mood, and you will instantly feel better.


2. Take responsibility for the things that do go wrong

There is no point blaming everyone else when things go wrong; sit up and take responsibility so that you know where you went wrong and how to fix it in future. 


3. Say yes every now and then

Especially to something that you would normally say no to - everyone needs a little excitement in their life and you never know what you might learn! 



4. Believe in yourself and your ability to succeed

If you don’t believe you can do it then no one else will – putting yourself down is just going to have a negative effect on you. Stop being your own worst critic and embrace the good things about yourself.


5. Don’t dwell on the past

Let go of things that happened in the past; constantly thinking of the bad things that happened is just going to leave you feeling frustrated, angry and negative. What's done is done - it's time to more forward.


6. Write a positive list

Grab a pen and paper and write down the things you love about yourself and the things that you are proud of. Bring this piece of paper around with you and when the negative thoughts start creeping back in, take a look and you’ll instantly feel better.
