Easter is just around the corner and many of us are looking forward to spending quality time with our loved ones. The house is stocked full of Easter eggs, the kids are off school and the bank holiday is approaching. However, many families are struggling financially across the country. It’s important to remember those in need during the holidays.

A hairdresser in Cork has inspired us all with their act of kindness. Joseph Byrne’s Hair Salon on the Glasheen Road has decided to collect chocolate eggs to donate to struggling families this Easter.

This incredible act has warmed our hearts, selfless acts like this show us that the world is still full of good people.

The Cork hairdressers will be accepting Easter egg donations until midday on Good Friday.

Speaking about the heartwarming move, Joseph told C103’s Cork Today show, “People get so many and they don't know what to do with them. If there's an overflow of them we'll take them."

He added that they have been overwhelmed by the public’s generosity, “I can’t believe what we’ve got so far.”

Local supermarkets have even joined in on the remarkable act of kindness. One shop has donated €70 worth of Easter eggs, with another shop donating 30 eggs.

The hairdressers will donate the Easter eggs to Cork Penny Dinner and Edel House, who will then share the chocolate eggs with homeless families in Cork.

Joseph's caring act has shown us the importance of giving to others during the holidays, especially to families who are in need.
