When you're the President of America, you are faced with tough decisions and situations on a daily basis, but it seems that nothing gets to Barack Obama quite like being a dad does.

During a speech at a community college this week, the 54-year-old revealed how watching daughters Sasha and Malia grow into young women has 'freaked him out'.

Recalling the previous day, when he went to see daughter Malia off for her first day of senior year, the father-of-two said: "She puts her head on my shoulder and she says, 'Daddy, you know, you realise this is probably going to be the last time that you ever send me off for my first day of school.'"

While Barack pretended to wipe away a tear, he admitted that the moment was almost too much for him: "I had to look away. I didn't want to just be such a crybaby. It makes no sense. Michelle and I are way too young to have daughters who are both almost in college now. So as a parent, I was a little freaked out."

Malia, who is sister to 14-year-old Sasha, is set to graduate from private Sidwell Friends School next year.
