A heartbroken family have uncovered a secret message written by their 13 year-old daughter before she passed away last week.
Athena Orchard lost her battle with bone cancer and her family were not prepared for what they found when they took on the devastating task of sorting through her belongings.
The family found a 3,000 word message written on the back of her bedroom mirror in which she reveals her positive outlook and a message for those as they go through life: “Every day is special, so make the most of it. You could get a life-ending illness tomorrow so make the most of every day. Life is only bad if you make it bad.”
Athena’s dad said that his daughter had not mentioned the message, but that it was like something she would do: “She never mentioned it, but it’s the kind of thing she’d do. She was a very spiritual person, she’d go on about stuff that I could never understand – she was so clever.”
