If walking is your thing, or you fancy going on a vacation with a bit of a difference, why not have a go at one of the following four gorgeous scenic hikes:
1. The Camino de Santiago, Spain/ France
The Camino de Santiago is a pilgrimage that starts at various points across the continent but all ending in Santiago de Compostela in Spain. The whole walk is 780km and takes a round four weeks, but you can do the Sarria to Santiago walk which is only 111km.
2. West Highland Way, Scotland
This fabulous walk will take the hiker from Milngavie to the shores of Loch Linnhe. Going along ancient footpaths past the swamps of Rannoch Moor over Aonach Eagach, this 96 mile walk is so worth it.
3. Kungsleden, Sweden
Along the 270 mile walk, you will pass through one of Europe’s largest remaining wilderness areas, go by Mount Kebnekaise, see glaciers and incredible scenery. The entire walk takes about four weeks but you can start and end where you like.
4. Bernese Overland Trails, Switzerland
No matter how long you go for you will traverse the base of the Swiss Alps, see beautiful meadows and gorgeous alpine villages. You can go for a few hours or a few days – it’s entirely up to you.
