Any parent who has a child with food allergies will know that it can be difficult to keep track and find dinners to suit the whole family.

This was exactly the reason mum, Erin Buettgen, resorted to hiring a personal chef to meet her family’s dietary needs.

Erin’s children, 11-year-old Aiden and seven-year-old Trevor, suffer from a range of allergies including being lactose intolerant and coeliac, whilst Trevor alone is allergic to much fruit, rice and a range of nuts.

Erin’s situation came to a head and she decided to hire Stacy Mackey, who comes to their home every week, creating main dishes as well as freezer meals for the family.

Not only this, but Stacy also researches each and every ingredient to check for anything that may cause an allergic reaction to the children, and indeed to Erin herself, who is gluten intolerant.

While it may seem as if a personal chef in an extravagance for those who can afford it, this may not be so as Larry Lynch of the United States Personal Chef Association explains: “It becomes very affordable when your personal chef becomes your partner in your food preparation.”

Would you ever consider hiring a personal chef to deal with your family’s allergies, should the service be available?
