Colman Noctor is a Child & Adolescent Psychoanalytical Psychotherapist currently working in St Patricks Adolescent Service and as an Associate Professor in TCD. He provides psychotherapeutic interventions to adolescents in both the in-patient and community settings. Colman is also the only Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Child and Adolescent Mental Health in Ireland and he is currently completing a Doctorate in Psychotherapy in DCU. His research area is an exploration of influence of social media on young people.
Colman is also a bestselling author of ‘Cop On, what it is and why your child needs it to thrive and survive in today’s world’. This is a parenting book which explores parenting challenges of the technological age. Colman has also published a number of articles and his 2006 paper ‘Putting Harry Potter on the Couch’ was the second most viewed article of Clinical Child Psychology and Psychiatry that year.
Colman has a significant media role and is a regular contributor on a number of radio and television programmes and is a regular contributor to the parenting slot on Newstalk’s ‘Moncrieff’ and Q102’s ‘Call Cooney’ shows.
Colman’s special interests include Eating Disorders, Social Media, Psychoanalysis and Youth Mental Health.
