It has been a difficult few days for her, with reports claiming that her relationship with Dan Hooper is over, so we would imagine that being involved in a shocking hoax has hit actress Kym Marsh hard.

The Coronation Street star has been left fuming and horrified after an internet troll assumed her identity and sent out a Facebook message suggesting that her niece had died.

The cruel troll set up a fake ‘Kym Marsh’ Facebook page and wrote: “Writing a song about my special niece Kim who sadly passed away from cancer a few days ago…feeling emotional.”

When the real Kym found out about the hoax, she took to the page and commented underneath, clarifying: “This IS NOT MY FACEBOOK and whoever this sicko is needs locking up! You need help! My niece is alive and well.”

Admitting that she is “furious” over the incident, Kym told OK! magazine: “My niece is actually really well and has recently had a baby. Kim [her niece] was distraught. Her mum – my sister Tracey – was really upset too.”

Kym is just the latest celebrity to be targeted in such a cruel manner on social media. TV personality Katie Piper recently revealed that she and her young daughter, Belle, have been the victim of horrific threats and online abuse.

This is undoubtedly a tough time for Kym, and we hope that she and her family are alright after such a horrible incident.
