I really enjoyed this trial. I bake quite a bit but never have huge success with icing. I regularly buy situ car sugar, caster sugar and icing sugar but had never tried since a roll out icing before.
i found the roll out icing so easy to use, it rolled out very well and cut easily too. I started by using it simply as lids for mice pies, that were devoured! Then I used it to cover a tea brack. I then coloured some of the icing and my daughter had great fun making shapes for on top of cakes (and eating left over pieces). With a bit of practice I reckon I could do some great decorating with it. This is a really good product that I will definitely buy again and also recommend to others.
Smaller packs in different colours would also interest me.

Thank you for the opportunity to take part in this trial. I am an avid cake maker/decorater and am always looking for ways that will make things easier. I have used a lot of roll out icings which when rolling feel like a workout and also some that go dry the minute they hit the air and also I have made my own which takes some time and patience. I was keen to try siucra and used it on a family celebration cake. I found it to be soft, easy to use and gave lovely sharp edges on the cake without cracking. It tasted pretty good too. I coloured a small amount for the writing and that turned out well. All in all I was happy with it and would use it again.

My mother always used siucra and its the brand i use most too. I have use all the products except the instant icing sugar, my mum used it on all our christmas cakes and i didnt like it

when the icing first arrived i was suprised how soft it felt because i have use other ready icing in the past and it was rock hard. I made a victoria sponge with jam and buttercream in the middle and a coating of buttercream on the outside i left the cake in the fridge while i rolled out the icing I use some icing sugar on the worksurface to stop it sticking it was easy to roll out and i got it nice and thin as i dont like thick icing. the cake i made was 8inch but i did cut the edges off all the way around so i would have a nice soft cake. I used one of the packet and it covered really nicely im not the best at covering cakes but it looked great and i had promised the kids they could decorate the cake with the left over icing i had some wilton gel colours so we tried to colour the icing eek!!! we all have dyed our hands but the icing did take the colour really well and my daughter did a really cool ripple effect. I didnt know we could upload pics untill i saw the below cake but will take picture if im lucky enough to get picked again for a trial. Its safe to say the icing tasted nice as the kids and i ate enough of it as we were going along making the decorations. the kids thought it was hillarious that they could make a snowman and then eat it lol. we will be buying the icing again for our christmas baking it would be great if it came in other colors a mixed pack of colours for making figures and decorations and then larger packs of common boy/girl colours ie pink, blue and yellow to cover the cake. not sure about the flavour of the icing for me its better to stick to the plain flavor so it doesnt go againt the flavour of the cake. thank you very much mummy pages for letting my family be part of the trial it was a great fun way to spend the evening with the children

Thank you for choosing me for this trial. As a regular user of siúcra products, including granulated, caster, brown and icing sugars, I looked forward to seeing if this product lived up to the same standards and it does :-)

It was very easy to use, rolled out easily. My daughters 11 & 8 found it great to use too. It was easy to colour with gel colours. We made a selection of cupcakes and also biscuits and it covered everything really well. It was also really easy to make animals shapes too.

Often pre made roll out icing is very hard and way too sweet but this icing is the exception, it was soft and pliable straight from the pack and while sweet it was not overly sweet.

The only way to improve this product in my opinion is to also offer it in various colours, I know it was easy to colour but it would be so convenient to just get it ready to go.

I will definitely buy this product again.

Well at long last I got my baking gear out yesterday and baked some buns and a cake. I was curious about using the rollout icing as I had never used before but I can honstly say I was well impressed wih how easy it was to use. As well as that the icing was clean. When preparing icing it can at times be quite messy.
Now for the taste test. My children and husband are very critical and are tough judges. I waited with bated breath as they trialled the buns and cake and for research purposes I am delighted to inform you that the buns and the icing got a huge thumbs up.
Overall this product is wellmade and tastes good. Its ease of use also is a bonus. I will definitiely be using this in the future and I would recommend to my nearest and dearest.
Thank you for letting me trial this product. It will be a must have for my baking needs in the future.

I always buy the Siucra brand. Caster sugar, icing sugar, instant royal icing. I hadn't used the roll out icing before but found it very easy to use. My two smallies loved the novelty of it and helped to roll it out. We thought it tasted lovely but yet didn't overpower the taste of the cake. We topped a cake with one packet and topped cupcakes with the other. Great timesaver. I would definitely buy it again but I'd like to see the range expand to pre cut decorated sheets for given sizes ie 8" round, 8" square and cupcake size. I made some decorations on top which were pretty but going it messy to colour. I'd like to see pink , lemon and chocolate colours and if flavoured all the better!! I've since bought a pack for my Mom as she's made my Christmas cake. It would be handy if the pack stated what size cake it would cover and I think the packaging could be more exciting. Thanks for having us trial the product! It was fun to do!!

I am aware of the Siucra brand and have used granulated caster dark brown, light golden brown and icing sugar from the brand.

I liked the ready to roll as it has an easy roll texture that is easily to mould. The taste was sweet and other that sweet tasteless with is good for adding flavours to. I iced an oxford lunch cake getting ready for Christmas. I loved the fact this was such a quick and easy to use product straight out of the packet.

I would buy it again if stocked in the supermarket as getting to specialist store for ready made icing takes time and more effort. I have used specialist roll out icing prior but I think they are both on par. For someone who is into baking at home and would like an easy option to icing a cake Siucra is a great product.

I would like to see different colours but I found it easy to dye.

I was so happy to be chosen for this trial, with a big Birthday for one of my Children in November this would make the whole day less hassle. I always buy Siucra as the quality is so much better than other brands. So I was confident that the roll out icing would not disappoint. I was right.

Normally for Bithdays I buy a cake because I find the mess making buttercream icing annoying and don't have the time to make Fondant. Also I knew that letting the younger kids ice a tray bake would be simple and also cause no mess.

It was so easy to roll out and cut to shape the only downfall is that it is only available in White so apologies I had to buy a competitors to finish the decoration mind you this only showed what good value theSiucra brand is and how much easier it is to use. The cake went down a treat so much so I didn't get a photo of it.

With the Christmas Cake being made this week I know what Icing will be going on top. Siucra all the way.

Great product and have highly recommend .

Thanks again for choosing me.

Roll out icing was easy to use. I made a sponge cake and I put the icing over the cake and the rest of the icing I used it on chocolate chip muffins it was great to use on cakes and the kids loved them. It would be great if the had different colours in the icing would be great for to use when making themed cakes

I have to say I always use Siucra products, it's always been the one my mum used and my mother in law too, so it's like a tradition, and the products have never let me down, so wouldn't be interested in changing.
We had so much fun with this trial this weekend. The two kids had been sick all week, but we weren't quite ready to go out, so I decided we would ice the Christmas cake. The icing is so easy to use and roll out, we had quite a few hands working on it but it still turned out great, we also had quite a few 'official testers' who all agreed it tasted fab too. :)
I love that it was easy to use, quick and non-messy. I always make a mess of icing the Christmas cake but no this time. I even coloured bits of it for decorations - we had red and green for holly and lots of read for Santa. Colouring it was incrediby easy too.
This is a great product for a busy mum - and I would recommend it to everyone. Thanks very much for including us in the trial. A very happy mum with the kids entertained on a chilly day at home and the Christmas cake done now too.

I'm not ususally involved in the baking at home (the hubby loves it and always looks after it) but when I got the opportunity to test the Siucra Roll Out Icing I decided this one be one thing I'd do on my own.
Hubby took the kids out and I started in on the cakes & cupcakes that I was making - we were having friend over. I made a chocolate sandwich cake and covered it with the icing - it looked amazing. Siucra Roll Out Icing is ridiculously easy to use, it was easy to roll out and cut to size. I then rolled out the rest for the cup cakes, again simply to roll out and cut to the right shape. On the cupcakes, I made the icing into little shapes on the top so they didn't cover the full bun - and they also looked fab.
This is a great product and something I will always have in the press from now on. For a not so avid baker, it was simple and effective.
Thanks very much for giving me the chance to take part in this trial - I will definitely use it again and would recommend to anyone.

We always buy Siucra products at home (as did my mum and her mum before if I'm not mistaken). The products I buy most often are granulated sugar, castor sugar and icing sugar. I bake throughout the year especially with the kids, but I abolutley love this time of year especially. The Christmas cake was already made, so I decided me and the kids would decorate it this weekend - I coloured a small piece of the icing for each of them and gave them each a small piece to work with to create holly leaves and berries. Colouring the icing was really simple and a lot less work than I thought. The kids loved being given their own job to do for the cake and I was happy that it wasn't going to end up on a crazy mess.
Rolling out the Siucra Roll Out Icing was so easy, litterlly minutes to roll it out size it and cut it to cover the cake. This a great product and one that hadn't occurred ot me to buy before. My mum called in while we were doing the icing and she has now asked us to do her cake too. Happy days.
We're very grateful that you allowed us to take part. Thanks so much. Would recommend and will buy again.

Very excited about been selected to use Siucra Roll out Icing & because of this l decided to bake a red velvet cake as its Thanksgiving next weekend, l wanted to do a trial run before presenting a cake to american friends of mine. To start using my lcing l kneaded it a bit in its packet just to soften it a bit, it didnt take long. l sprinkled icing suger on my counter top, placed my lcing on the sugar & rolled out out. Wow, easy peasy. l didnt roll out too thin as l was afraid it would break. l brushed a very light coating of apricot jam (VERY LIGHT) on top of my red velvet cake to help "stick" the icing and placed my rolled icing on top of cake. The icing completely coveredm cake ( 8in cake) l cut with a knife the hanging on bits, gathered them together, added a few drops of red colouring, rolled out & with my pizza cutter, cut strips of icing & put on cake.
The cake looked amazing, very "professional" looking, clean as if l spent hours icing. BUT thats where it ends, taste wise, the icing didnt add anything. My kids just peeled it off, one child took off the icing as if it was a wraper & the other ate the icing & not the cake!
Siucra is a great product to work with, easy to use resulting in a clean, polished looking cake. l think its an excellent icing for xmas cakes or other solid fruit type cake. Not suitable for sponge type cakes.
Wondering after could l have put some vanilla extract in it to give more flavour?
Would buy but only if l was icing a fruit cake but enjoyed the challenge! thanks!!

This trial came at a perfect time as I was just about to finish a sugar craft course. Used other brands for the first half of the course as and then used the Siucra roll out to ice my Christmas cake and to make other cake decorations. I was surprised but I definitely found a difference between the different brands. There wasn't a strong artificial taste from the Siucra roll out but what was really fab was that Siucra didn't stick like the other brands. Normally I have to roll out a few times and it breaks when I lift (lack of practice too I must admit) but with the Siucra it stayed even & lifted onto the cake like a dream. It was lovely and pliable and so easy to use. I will def. use it in the future. I have already recommended it to the others in the class! I have never made my own roll out...and certainly never will....not when this product is available :-) It is expensive to buy pre-coloured roll out icing & generally I find the packs are very small. There is a huge gap in the market for Siucra as coloured roll out icing (as far as I know ) only available in specialist shops. It would fly off supermarket shelves.. Well done Siucra & thanks for asking me to test. :-)
