Congratulations to Kevin McKidd and his wife Arielle Goldrath, who just welcomed their first child together!
The proud father took to Instagram this last Sunday, American Mother's Day, to announce their joyous news.
"On this beautiful Mother’s Day evening... Welcome- little Aiden to our family and to the World! Arielle, you’re the most amazing mother and I love you both so much!" he captioned a photo of the new mum and baby boy snuggling together.
We love Aiden's name, and the moniker feels especially suitable considering Kevin grew up near Inverness in Scotland. Aiden is an anglicised version of the Scottish Gaelic name Aodhàn (and Irish name Aodhán), meaning 'Little Fire'. We wonder if he'll have his father's red hair to live up to his fiery name!
Kevin, who is best known for his role as Owen Hunt on Grey's Anatomy, is also father to a 15-year-old daughter, Iona, and 17-year-old son, Joseph. He shares Iona and Joseph with his ex-wife, Jane Parker.
The 44-year-old first shared that he and Arielle were married and expecting a little one back in March.
"My kids are happy for us too and are looking forward to the arrival of their newest sibling!" the Trainspotting actor wrote on his website.
The father also described how he and Arielle's wedding included a nod to his homeland, just like Aiden's name:
"Close friends and family came together with my Grey’s family to share in our celebration day – an intimate, low key gathering culminating in a Scottish Ceilidh dance."
That sounds absolutely lovely! We are utterly thrilled for Kevin and Arielle as they begin their parenthood journey together.
The actor's fans showered him and his wife with congratulations on social media.
"Congratulations to you both! He is gorgeous! Welcome to the world Aiden," a commenter wrote.
"Congrats!!!! What a wonderful blessing on Mothers Day!" another gushed.
