A super food can be described as a "nutrient-rich food, which is considered to be particularly beneficial for a person's health and well-being".
Super foods, however, are not always special items you purchase in a health store, they are nutritious treats that all of us have in our fridge - we just may not realise how super they are.

1. Blueberries
Blueberries are packed full of antioxidants, and some research also shows that eating blueberries can reduce the appearance of wrinkles - need we say more?
2. Apples
Apples can lower cholesterol to fight heart disease, while also keeping your bones strong. Remember what they say, "an apple a day keeps he doctor away."

These delightful tree nuts lower blood sugar levels, reduce blood pressure and lower cholesterol levels. They can also promote weight loss.
4. Avocados
Avocados are an excellent source of potassium, fibre, and many other vitamins. Avocados are also loaded with healthy fats that improve overall body function.
5. Yoghurt
Yoghurt contains bacteria that cleans the digestive system. It also contains beneficial yeast which destroys destructive bacteria that can cause infections and viruses in the intestine.
6. Lemons
Lemons contain flavonoids, which have been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. This, combined with high levels of Vitamin C, make lemons great for heart health, diabetes, and arthritis.
7. Dark chocolate
