Christmas is a time of the year when we remember what is really important: family and spending time with loved ones near and far, and a German supermarket chain is really driving the message home with its emotional Christmas ad.
The ad tells the story of a lonely grandfather, with snapshots showing his Christmas Days and dinners spent alone while his children leave voice messages explaining why they cannot visit him.
Years go by, and one day the old man’s children receive some devastating news – their father has passed away, and you can just see the regret over missed opportunities spent together written all over their faces.
As all the family gather together at their father's home, their children in tow, they are shocked to find the table decked out with place settings for everyone – and their father standing in the doorway.
“Well, how else was I going to get you all to come out here?” he tells them.
As extreme as this ad is, it sends a really important message to us all: no matter how hectic life becomes, you need to make time for everyone, especially your loved ones.
