Rita Wilson’s husband Tom Hanks has paid tribute to the actress after her ordeal, praising her and confirming that her health is now ‘fantastic’.
Rita revealed last May that she had battled breast cancer and undergone a double mastectomy as part of her treatment. She shared her personal story in a bid to raise awareness of the disease around the world.
In an interview with Extra this week, 59-year-old Tom praised the mother-of-two, saying: “She took on not only the crisis, but also the issues of women’s cancers in a way that I thought was extremely brave and beautiful. I’m glad we’re not in high school, because I wouldn’t have had the courage to talk to her in the hallway! I am a lucky man.”
Rita and Tom have been married for 27 years. While the Hollywood stars are parents sons Chet and Truman together, Tom is also dad to Colin and Elizabeth; his kids from his first marriage, to Samantha Lewes.
