Deciding whether to go for the chop is one of those things that can keep you up all night!

For a lot of women, hair is something they hide behind, with many often just wearing it up in a ponytail or down straight and long.

However, there may come a time when you quite fancy a change, but how can you tell if you will actually suit short hair?

We all know that getting the wrong hairstyle can be disastrous, so try out the following trick before you make that appointment with your hairdresser.

John Frieda’s ruler rule

John Frieda has a really good tip to help you figure out if short hair will suit you:

  • Place a ruler just at the bottom of your ear and a pencil from the bottom of your chin.
  • Measure the distance from your ear to your chin.
  • If it is less than 2.25 inches short hair will suit you; if its greater than 2.25, it won’t. And good luck if you land bang on 2.25 inches – the sleepless nights will continue!
