A family from Texas all wear helmets with their baby, who has a slight deformation.

Four-month-old Jonas Gutierrez suffers from plagiocephaly. Also known as flat head-head syndrome, it is a condition where one side of the skull is flat.

To help him with his condition, doctors gave him a special helmet to reshape his head. He is required to wear it for the next three to six months.

As a sign of solidarity, his older sister decided to wear a bicycle helmet so Jonas wouldn’t feel alienated. Soon, the whole family joined in.

"She's like, 'Hey! I have a helmet too, and Daddy has a helmet,'" mother Shayna Gutierrez, 31, told ABC News. "So, she just got excited and went and dug them all out."

Shayna posted a picture of her family wearing the helmets on her Instagram page, along with her cousin Shea Serrano, who tweeted it to 152,000 followers on his page.

The image was retweeted 20,000 times and received 81,000 likes.

“Man, your family's genes just breed good people,” one person tweeted.

"OK, as someone who grew up having multiple reconstructive surgeries and head shaping, this pic right here? Makes me so damn happy. Your cousin is doing a good thing there,” wrote another person.

“All the cool kids wear helmets!” added another Tweeter.

Shayna went on to say that wearing helmets has now become the norm.

"Now, it's just our normal Saturday routine," Shayna Gutierrez said. "Jonas is doing great with the helmet. He doesn't mind it at all. He's adjusting great."

And the father-of-two isn't concerned about any potential stares his family may get while out for the next few months.

"I'm more concerned with my son, my daughter and my wife than I am with what other people think," he explained. "When I focus on that, it's a lot easier to accept and be OK with it."

The family plan to decorate Jonas’ helmet to make it appear like the head of a car crash dummy, so he can look back at the photos with fondness and humour when he’s older.

Plagiocephaly affects many babies around the globe. It usually occurs when the baby is developing in the womb, or if a newborn baby is repeatedly sleeping in the same head position.
