This time last year, Billie Lourd lost her mum, Carrie Fisher, and her grandmother, Debbie Reynolds, in the space of two days.

We cannot even begin to imagine how hard this was for the young actress, and she has remained quite private about her experiences.

However, this week on Ellen, Billie opened up about her losses.

She talked about what life has been like since losing two of the most important women in her life, who she called her “goddesses.”

“It’s completely surreal. There's no way to really explain it, it’s so hard to talk about. If I say I’m doing good, I’m too happy. If I say I’m not doing good, then I’m a mess. So it’s really hard to know what to say about it, because it’s so surreal and impossible to deal with.”

The young actress, who is currently promoting her show American Horror Story: Cult, also went on to speak about her experience working with her mum.

Billie had a part in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, where she was lucky enough to act alongside her mum, famous for her portrayal of Princess Leia.

“I’m a big believer of things happening for a reason and I think I ended up on that movie for a reason,” Lourd said. “It was really incredible for us to get to have that experience together.”
