One-year-old Marwa was brought to hospital when she contracted a virus and was put in an induced coma when she developed serious neurological difficulties.
After watching her condition develop, doctors recommended to Marwa’s parents that they disconnect the machines that were keeping her alive.
Not accepting their decision, Marwa’s parents set up a Facebook petition to raise funds to challenge the medical staff’s decision.
With over 70,000 people signing the petition, a court ruled to extend Marwa’s care for two months at a hospital in Marseille, France.
Doctors argued that the little girl would never be able to walk, eat or breathe on her own again and that was reason to turn off her respirator.
However, 10 days later, Marwa miraculously woke.
Capturing the moment on camera, Marwa’s father shared the footage of his little girl tearing up and smiling.
