We here at MummyPages admire Katie Piper so very much. From her powerful attitude towards motherhood to her resilience in the face of any challenge, she is truly an inspiration.

Today the mum-of-two marked 10 years since her ex boyfriend Daniel Lynch had his friend Stefan Sylvestre throw acid in her face.

At the age of 24, she was left scarred and blind in one eye.

"10 years ago to the day today, I found it hard to dig deep, believe and trust in when people would say ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’," the TV presenter reflected in an emotional Instagram post.

In order to treat her burns, the philanthropist underwent 40 operations. She also had to wear a plastic face mask for 23 hours a day as a part of her healing process.

Katie has persevered through the unimaginable, and the touching note she penned shows just how much strength she possesses.

"Now I look in the mirror and see the hardest thing I’ve ever had to go through, it is now my strength, scars maybe be permanent but I am who I am today," the 34-year-old continued.

She encouraged her followers to 'take back the power and live your best life'.

The mum concluded her post with a message that cannot be overstated: "Never allow anyone to control or attempt to silence you."
