Hi there,
Well with a household of a total of 7 people ranging from age 3 to 39 our household was definitely the right house to test these cereals. I am 38 weeks pregnant so pretty much most things give me heartburn. When I tried the Original Mini Max I found I did not get heartburn! YAY. So this was definitely my favourite! I loved the fact that I could snack on it dry through out the day or eat it with milk for breakfast and it held me through to lunch time. The 3 youngest children in the house loved all three breakfasts but their favourite had to the multi grain shapes. I think this had to do with the sweetness and for my three year old it was definitely the novelty of having different shapes in her breakfast! It fascinated her enough to keep her at the table eating her breakfast until it was finished, something which doesn't happen very often. We have a very fussy teenager in the house that was not too keen on the 2 flavours of Mini Max but loved the multgrain shapes too. In fact she has already put it on the shopping list for next week. So this leaves the last 2 members of our family, an adult and an 11 year old child. I was fortunate to get a small bowl of the chocolate flavour Mini Max because when I went back to the cereal cupboard to try them dry all I found was the empty box! I think this speaks volumes for itself.

I will definitely be buying all 3 cereals again as everybody in the house was happy and I love the factr that there is not much sugar in any of the cereals and it is fortified with extra vitamins.

Thank you very much for letting my household test these cereals because if we hadn't chances are we would not have bought these cereals.

I have two boys, aged 5 and 4 and a little girl who’s nearly two. I try my best to get them to eat a healthy breakfast on school days – I do this by allowing them whatever they want on the weekend! So, on school days their usual cereal would either be porridge, ready brek, weetabix, rice crispies or cornflakes, then at the weekend, they are allowed coco pops (or whatever they want!). Very often for tea, if they’ve had a big dinner, they might have a bowl of cornflakes – a nice light tea!

My two boys were so excited to see the cereal arrive – they love the ads where Max goes off to school with the little girl! They declared before any of the boxes got opened that they were ‘going to love them’!! And love them they did!!

However, and I have to be totally honest, I thought, for a ‘healthy type’ cereal, they were extremely sweet and the sugar content was extremely high, I don’t think I would give these to the children on a daily basis. I know how important it is for them to have wholegrains & that the Mini Max have vitamin D, but I did think the high sugar content outweighed these benefits.

However, for the weekend, Mini Max would be a fantastic alternative to the ‘chocolately’ type cereals. The fact that they are sweet means the children view them as a treat and because they are wholegrain, Mini Max means I wouldn’t feel so guilty on a Saturday & Sunday morning!!

My little girl also loved them, I gave her a few dry as a mid-day snack and they were a lovely treat for her!

I was surprised that both the boys preferred the original flavour over the chocolate flavour; I had assumed that the chocolate would be the big hit!!

I was delighted to also receive the ‘surprise’ box of Multi-grain shapes – all three children loved these (again, the power of advertising – they were dying to open them to identify all the shapes the ‘guy’ talks about on the telly!). I tasted these myself (in order to provide a balanced and fair review!!) and while they are also sweet, they don’t seem to be as sweet as the Mini Max.

In summary, I would definitely buy the Mini Max again and think it would be a healthy weekend treat – kids would be delighted and I’d feel I was getting some kind of goodness into them!! I would also buy the multi-grain shapes, both as a weekend treat…and for those school days where just everything is a battle and it’s easier just to give in!!

Thanks to Kellogg’s & MummyPages for allowing us to take part in this taste test, I told the boys what we were doing and they took it all very seriously!!

Hi,
Thank you fo letting us to try all the Kelloggs cereals, my two kids 6 and 4 loved them every breakfast and as snack during the day. Me and my husband liked Original Mini Max as we prefer more healtier food, kids obvioulsy loved the chocolate ones and multigrain shapes. I found it great to have some change from oat cereals, and finding that they have the same goodness and vitamins in them and are perfect for start of the day.
We would definately buy them again in future, there will be no choice because kids really loved them.
Thank You Mummy Pages for including our family in trial :) :) :)

I've always purchased Kellogg's cereal - I know there are cheaper brands that I could buy but I've tried the cereals from other shops and I don't think they taste right. I normally buy a selection as the kids get bored very easily. This week we bought bran flakes, sultana bran, all-bran (for me), rice krispies and fruit & fibre for dad.
I like to try and balance what my kids eat - if we have a blow out day of party food, we try and be really good for the following few days. I take the same attitude with cereal. We try to do 'good cereals' during the week and fun stuff at the weekend. I like the balance and it works for us. The kids refuse to eat porridge so it isn't an option in our house.

Before I had kids, I never read the side of a box but now I do. I look for fibre rich cereals as they are so important for 'inner health' for the kids and adults too. I keep an eye on salt and sugar and was very pleased to see that sugar in this product was very low in comparison to other kids cereals. I compared it to other cereals I had tried and I was happy that Mini Max was high in fibre without being high on sugar. This means alot to me. I compared it to other cereals we have bought for weekday and weekend cereals:
Cheerios –16.4g
Frosted shreddies – 17.4g

Shredded wheat – 8.4g
Alpen – 9.3g
Bran Flakes – 6g
Rice Krispies – 3g
Coco pops – 11g
Fruit & Fibre – 10g
Mini Max – 7g
I do like the fact that Kellogg's adds vitamins to cereal - there are often days that we don't do our 5 a day perfectly so the kids having a good start with fortified cereal helps on that front. We all tried Mini Max - even me and dad. The kids liked both - chocolate being a weekend staple now. Dad and I prefered the original variety. We would definitely buy them again.

Hi Mummypages ... thanks so much for letting us do this trial, my kids now love you guys! Nothing quite like getting a parcel delivered to your door to get the kids on side. Big smile

We had intended on testing the cereals for breakfast, but the three kids (aged 3, 5 and 8) were that excited they insisted on trying them as soon as we got them, so it was a cereal lunch time testing.

I often buy different cereals for them to try, it’s the one thing they all love – AND it can be eaten at breakfast or tea (well in our house it is anyway) so it’s a great back up to have in the press. The cereals we normally buy are RiceCrispies, Cornflakes, Honey Loops, Crunchy Nut and All Bran – mostly Kellogggs really. I have tried ‘own brand’ cereals too, none of them ever match up though, they just don’t. You know when you’re not eating a ‘real’ cereal, so we tend to stick to the brand. My mum always bought Kellogg’s so I guess it’s in the genes.

Breakfast is really important in our house, and if I don’t have the kids well set up before I send them off for the day, I regret it. They get cranky for snacks quickly, whereas if they have a healthy breakfast they are pretty good until lunch time. Our healthy family breakfast consists of cereal first and foremost – I want them to get their fibre and vitamins from that - I know the cereal is fortified and that’s important to me. And after that it’s toast and jam and a drink (water usually). I Include fruit on the plate with the toast, but I’ll be honest, it’s not always eaten.

We all sat down to start our testing (Mum, Dad and the 3 kids) and took the matter very seriously altogether. We each started with a small bowl of Mini Max chocolate. Dad and youngest (3) absolutely LOVED it and decided to go for a second bowl. Myself and the other 2 boys really enjoyed it too, but wanted to try the next one, so we opened the original box and the three of us tested it. Again, no complaints from anybody. Lots of muching and mmm’s and general good sounds. There was a request from the boys and Dad for a third bowl, but I had to call a halt – there’d be none left for breakfast at this rate, and no room left for dinner either. But I guess that’s a good positive sound from everyone.

We all really enjoyed this cereal and will definitely be buying it again. First and foremost, the kids (and Dad) gave it a resounding thumbs-up, which is always a good starting point. After that, from a mum’s perspective, I’m really happy with the cereal, it tastes great, but also it’s been fortified with vitamins and iron – and I also read that it contains the ever important Vitamin D – and with this dull wet summer, we definitely need to be able to get that somewhere else. Well done Kellogg’s, another favourite to add to the shopping list.

Thanks for allowing us take part in this trial.

Thanks for letting us partake in the trial of the Kellogg’s Mini Max ... I really like the TV ad. I have 3 children my daughter is 17 years and my sons are 3 and 13 years respectively. We also had a 12 year old visitor when we tried the new cereal.

As a family we have tried Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, Bran, Special K, Rice Krispies and the Frosty Flakes... the Corn Flakes is the favourite though. We alternate our breakfasts as I believe it’s important to start your day with a good meal including weekends.

I’m aware that Kellogg’s makes quality breakfasts... Getting fibre in the family’s diet is important whether it’s at breakfast or not. A healthy breakfast is one that leaves you satisfied and is a slow burner especially for the kids going to school. I always include grain based foods in our daily diet.

I think it great that the Kellogg’s cereals are fortified with important vitamins and minerals ... I’m a big fan of moderation and appreciate the fact that the Mini Max is low in saturated fats and salt.

My kids and our guest tried the cereal, my daughter and our guest enjoyed and preferred the Original Mini Max and my 13 year old preferred the Chocolate flavour. My 3 year old ate the Original Mini Max as a snack straight from the box:-).

I grew up eating Kellogg’s cereals ... I like to convenience it offers when we’re running late – we recently collected the tokens for the cereal bowls and the Mini Max will definitely be on the shopping list.

Hi,

Thanks so much for allowing us to take part in this trial. I have 2 daughters, a 3 and a 6 year old. They were all excited when the boxes of cereal arrived in the post that they had to be opened immediately.

I'd purchase Kellogg's cereals on and off, the one's i'd usually get are Coco Pops, Rice Krispies, Crunchy Nut Corn Flakes and the mutigrain shapes, which ye sent to me.

I am aware that Kellogg's make quality breakfast cereals, i'd always take a look at the vitamin, mineral, sugar and fibre content on the box. I think having cereals high in fibre is very important for kids and overall been healthy. Some cereals can be quite high in sugar, so i'd try to avoid buying them ones, if at all possible. I find it very helpful that Kellogg's fortifies it's cereals with important vitamins and minerals, as at the best of times i find it hard to get my kids to eat healthy, especially my younger child, she's such a fussy eater.

I'm quite happy that the new Mini Max are low in saturated fat and salt.

Myself and my 2 kids tried the the Mini Max. My 3 year old seemed to prefer the chocolate ones. My 6 year old liked both and had them both with milk and as a snack on their own. I quite liked them myself, although i'd have a slight preference for the original one's. I found them very tasty.

I feel that Kellogg's brand is synonymous with breakfast and a good start to the day. I myself grew up having Kellogg's cereals not just for breakfast but as a snack during the day too and i like to keep that tradition going with my kids.

Many thanks again for allowing me to be part of this trial, i really enjoyed it.

I was delighted to take part in this trial.I have two daughters 21 and 18 months.Yep big age gap!My eldest daughter would eat cereal morning to night and my youngest daughter is trying new foods and i've started trying her on different cereals. She was born with Down syndrome so she is a picky eater, and still getting alot of her teeth. This trial was right up my street as they say.

On receiving my boxes of cereals both daughters were eager to try them all.I am a lover of Kelloggs cereals as that is what i grew up on and i am very concious of a healty cereal to give my children especially with my yougest with Ds , kids with Ds are prone to throid, diabeties and weight issues.

We have just finished all three boxes and I have to say we have all enjoyed them all.I am thrilled the fibre content and nutrient value in the cereal. My eldest took to the chocolate and my baby loved the nutrigrain shapes that were easy to soak in the milk and easy for her to eat. Also although he will never admit to it my husband( a coffee only breakfast) even had a few sneak bowls of the chocolate mini max on the quiet!

I loved the original mini max cereal ,and i found a bowl filled me till lunch time which was great as with other cereals i would be hungry an hour after.

Thank you for the chance to try these. They will definitely be added to my shopping list from here on in..xx

Hi guys, Thanks a million for including me and my family in this wonderful trial. There was great excitement in the house when they saw a big box arriving. A soon as we opened it the kids had to try the cereal. my daughter who is 2 of course went straight for the chocolate flavour :-). My son age 3 went for the original and my husband decided to go for the multigrain shapes. i must say they went down really well. My son who is usually a picky eater finished a whole bowl of them and asked for more so i will definately be buying these again. I tried the multigrain shapes myself and found them very enjoyable and they kept me full until lunch which was very
good. So well done for bringing out a good range of cereals.

Thank You

Hi, thanks so much for including my family in the taste test, we enjoyed it alot. It was great to receive the 2 full sized boxes of the Mini Max and the suprise box also. We always buy Kelloggs so it was great to get some more to try as we had tasted the Multi Grain Shapes before but we hadnt tried the Mini Max. Our usual suspects are Cornflakes Krispies and Coco Pops. I was aware that Kelloggs only make Cereal for themselves why would they want to let any others take credit for their high quality products and nice taste. I like the idea of a good high fibre cereal as its an easy way to get fibre into my sons diet without an argument. I like to have a cereal thats healthy so its high in fibre, vitamins and minerals, but also low in sugar and salt. Im glad to hear that Kelloggs fortifie its cereals cause its hard to get all that u need in ur daily diet. I was impressed with the new Mini Max cereal from Kelloggs and i hope its true that its low in fats and salt as it appears that it is. I was so shocked recently when i learnt of other cereals that had high levels of salt, which is something i wouldnt have expected to find in cereal. My son 8 was the chief taster in this house but I also tried them. I liked both flavours. My son prefered the chocolate variety. His choice was because and i quote"I like the chocolate because its nice, the plain one was ok but it was boring. He prefered the chocolate for the taste he also found it quiet filling although after the first bowl he had smaller portions as it is alot heavier than other cereals. I would find this a good thing though if he was having it on a week day for school so it would fill him up for the morning. He gave the plain one 2/10 and the chocolate 9/10 it lost a point because it was a bit too filling he said. The 2/10 I think was because it wasnt chocolate !!! Kelloggs is definatlely associated with breakfast and a good start to the day and this is continued with this cereal. I found the cereal good for you and tasty too.

Thanks again

Katriona

We regularly purchase Kellogs cereals in our house and were excited to be involved in the new trial. Healthy breakfast cereals are important to us as we eat it every morning and most evenings too! The cereals were mainly eaten by my two children who loved both, chocolate and original. Myself and my husband also tried them however we both preferred the original ones as we found the chocolate ones too sweet. The cereals were lovely and light and refreshing, and the high fibre and nutrients makes them a good start to the day.

Helly Mummy pages and thank you for letting us trial Kellogs Mini-Max,
I have to say my little girl loved them, as did her daddy. I'm not really a fan of sweet things at breakfast but I thought they were nice to munch on as an evening snack. They definitely kept my little girl full up til snack time.
The one downfall for my was the sugar content, while not astronimical, it is still much higher than what we would usually eat in this house (porridge, rice crispies, cornflakes etc). Nice as a treat but not something I would be comfortable with my little lady eating everyday
