Singer and reality TV star Kerry Katona got rather emotional last night after seeing her eldest daughter Molly head off to the prom.

Molly and her friend posed for an Instagram picture in their navy blue dresses, enjoying a glass of bubbly.

"My little girl all grown up," Kerry wrote on Instagram. "Cried watching her go to her prom, so proud."

Kerry posted a candid photo of Molly, 15, and her friend standing and giggling by the fireplace.

“They had so much fun,” she captioned the shot.

Fans were quick to comment on how beautiful her daughter looked on her prom night.

Emotions were heightened when she found out Molly will be moving to Ireland soon. She is ready to move in with her grandparents, Brian McFadden’s parents, in Artane, Dublin. Kerry revealed that Molly wants to become a surgeon and will be doing a transition year in the Emerald Isle, to help further her career aspirations.

"Molly wants to be a surgeon. She wants to get really good grades in her GCSEs, so she’s going to Ireland to do a transition year.

"This will give her an extra year of biology and science. Molly wants extra knowledge – I am so proud of her," Katona told OK! magazine.

The star tearfully admitted that she’s going to miss her eldest daughter so much but is happy that she is fulfilling her dream of becoming a surgeon. She insists that Molly’s Irish grandparents ‘dote on her’ and she knows they will take good care of her while she’s away.

The mother-of-five recently posted a throwback photo of Molly as a toddler with the caption: "Omg, just burst into tears looking at my eldest come home from work."

"I told her that if she didn't do it, she could live to regret it. I don't want her to have a life full of regrets," she said. "If she doesn't like it, she can always come back home."

The Cheshire-born singer has two children with McFadden, Molly and Lilly-Sue (14). The couple married in 2002 but split two years later. Their divorce was finalised in 2006.

Kerry went on to marry cab driver Mark Croft. They had two children together - Heidi, 10, and Max, nine - and divorced in 2011. She had her fifth child in 2014, with her current partner George Kay. They now live together in Sussex.
